Men’s Basketball Loses Tough One to #25 Titans

Southfield, MI – The Lawrence Technological University Blue Devils men’s basketball team was at home Saturday against #25 Indiana South Bend. LTU struggled to score in this game when they lost by a final of 68-42.

Leading the way in scoring for the Blue Devils was Ivanovic with 10 points and five rebounds. Gustafson has seven points and five rebounds. LTU produced 14 bench points on the night. 

Isaiah Cumberland started this game over with a monster dunk out the gates. This game was back and forth throughout the majority of the first half.

A made layup by Alek Ivanovic knotted things up at 12 apiece with 11 minutes to go in the half

Three minutes later, freshman Andrew Rinn drilled a three-pointer to tie the game at 15.

Indiana South Bend went on a little run after Rinn’s three to put them up 28-20 with just over three minutes to play.

With one minute of play, Rinn’s made jumper cut the deficit to six before the half. 

The score was 28-22 heading into the half.

The Blue Devils shot just 32 percent from the field, and 23.1 percent from three in the first half.

Sanna Sisawo started the second half off with a deep three-pointer to make it 28-25.

A Gunnar Gustafson made jumper with 13:49 left gave LTU their first lead of the game since 18-17 with five minutes to play in the first half.

IU South Bend then went on their own 17-0 run to extend the lead to double digits 53-37.

Ivanovic ended their run when he made a layup with just under eight minutes to go.

LTU struggled from the field tonight when the team shot the ball just 32.7 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from behind the arc, and 44.4 percent from the line.

The Blue Devils (2-1) return to action against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Friday, November 5th when they play in the Bernie Holowicki Classic. This game will begin at 5 PM.
