Adrian, Mich. – The Lawrence Technological University men’s basketball team traveled to Adrian to play against the Siena Heights University on Saturday evening. A battle from both teams came down to the final seconds as LTU was able to pull out the victory by a final score of 70-66.

Brandon Beavers led all scorers with 24 points and seven rebounds. Gunnar Gustafson pitched in a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards. Freshman, Blake Lund came off the bench and caught fire to end the game with a career-high 22 points and four rebounds. 19 of those points came in the second half, hitting 6-of-10 from three.

The Blue Devils started the game off on a 6-0 run when Gustafson scored on the first possession of the game and Beavers backed him up with an aggressive layup.

The Saints stormed back to take a one-point lead from a Davin Walker three-point field goal with 11:14 to play in the first.

Gustafson banging down low with a quick turnaround layup made the lead seven for the Blue Devils with 7:21 on the clock.

LTU went cold from the field in the next three minutes, and Siena’s Jayden Sims bucket cut the lead to 28-26 with under five to play.

A Sanna Sisawo layup made it 30-26.

Beavers saw a gap on the next possession and got downhill for a nice finish at the rim, giving his team a six-point lead with 3:36 to go.

The biggest lead of the first half came under with two minutes to go when Beavers made another layup to add to his 18 first-half points.

LTU headed into the locker room up seven, 39-32.

The team shot 16-of-30 (53.3%), 2-of-9 (22.2%) from three, and 5-of-6 (83.3%) from the line.

Siena Heights began the second with a 6-0 to take over the lead  and force a Blue Devils’ timeout.

Lund hit back-to-back dagger three-pointers from the corner to cut the deficit to one, 46-45, with 16:58 to play.

Minutes later, two free throws from Davin Walker gave Siena a seven-point lead.

A couple of possessions later, Lund snatched an offensive rebound and got fouled on his put-back, making both of the ensuing free throws.

One of Lund’s six threes in the game came with 13:39 left to tie the game back up at 52 apiece, leading to an SHU timeout. Coming out of the timeout, he hit two deep threes to add to his big second half.

That was all part of LTU’s 13-0 spurt that give it a six-point lead, 58-52, with 11:57 remaining.

Both teams traded buckets for the next five minutes, but a big-time dunk from Beavers got the bench hyped late in the game, with just under five minutes to go, to put them up four.

A Max Moratinos layup gave Siena Heights a one-point lead 65-64.

Gustafson’s back-to-back layups made it 68-65

Beavers got fouled with 18 seconds left and sunk both free throws to seal the deal for the Blue Devils for a huge win on the road, 70-66.
